Tastemakers and curators are probably a dime a dozen these days online, but every once in a while, an individual or collective emerges that goes beyond simply digging for jams. Maël Gilabert, having only just recently finished France’s version of high school, has already rubbed shoulders online with countless artists in the vaporwave, future funk, and vaportrap scene. The creator of Baconwaveラジオ, a weekly Frission Radio show featuring different guest artists that curate mixes, Gilabert has also released several albums and EPs via his record label Elemental 95. Additionally, he was instrumental in creating arguably the most cohesive (or at least the largest) vaporwave based compilation to date outside of an established record label, “The Vape Council Vol. 1″, in all of its 128-track glory.

Gilabert volunteered to drop a guest mix for

Tiananmen Square Dance, and I am excited to feature his personalized collection of favorites. Featuring a variety of vaportrap, future funk, and classic vaporwave sounds, it’s sure to delight or at least entrance. It could certainly double as a decent intro to the current sounds of vaporwave playlist for the uninitiated, and it’s got some great cuts by Greyscalesound,

Bump it today, and then after that, check out some of your favorite vaporwave artists’ submissions to the Baconwaveラジオ

mixtape series and the sprawling “Vape Council Vol. 1″ comp.
